Pretty self explanatory, I’ll be posting more about what we did soon!
I adore braids, they always look fancy even when sometimes they can super easy and quick to do!
One of my favourite ‘go-to’ hairstyles is a fishtail braid, especially if I’m short on time and haven’t been able to wash my hair that morning!
If you’ve yet to master this type of braid – you’re in luck! I’ve made a video to show you exactly how to do it!
I do love mooching on the sofa snuggled in a blanket, with a cup of tea and some popcorn! During this mooching, I’ve been catching up on a lot of Netflix seasons – so here are my top 5 series to watch on Netflix! They’re either all time favourites or just what I’ve been enjoying recently!
The Good Wife
I’m currently playing major catch up on this show! There is a new season out in the UK which I am avoiding at all costs! (Channel 4 if you’re already up to date!) It’s basically a court room drama, and it did take a few episodes for me to get into it. Once you get to know the characters you’ll be hooked!
Orange is the New Black
A Netflix Original, this show is blooming brilliant! Everything about it from the storyline to the casting is just spot on, and you’ll feel every emotion going if you keep watching! You’ll probably end up girl crushing on Ruby Rose just like the rest of the internet – I cannot wait for the new season!
There are so many twists and turns throughout this show that you might get whiplash! The first season was my favourite, it kept me on the edge of my seat and always finished with a cliffhanger! Many nights spent watching ‘just one more’ until 3am…
Pretty Little Liars
Super girly but so addictive! This starts off as a high school ‘who did it’ and then gets really dark. Lots of twists and turns in this one as well, so many that I started to think I might be ‘A’!
Making a Murderer
It’s absolutely fascinating and terrifying at the same time. I binge watched the whole series with my husband in less than a week! The entire internet’s been talking about it, if you haven’t heard of it you may have been living under a rock. Keep in mind that it’s completely one sided, but it’s definitely worth a watch!
So tell me, what have you been watching?!
This post is inspired by the wonderful FifiMcgee’s interiors blog. If you haven’t seen her blog before (seriously, where have you been?!) and you’re into interiors you need to check it out!
I really enjoyed reading her home resolutions for 2016, so thought I’d share mine with you today!
We moved into our flat in November 2014, but have only decorated 1 room so far! Considering my husband is a painter and decorator – it’s not that good going, however he’s been a busy bee working 6 sometimes 7 day weeks to help save for our wedding and honeymoon last year. I think I’ll let him off!
Now that we have a bit more time to spend working on our own home, here are my home resolutions for 2016.
1. Decorate our spare room
This room feels so empty and uninviting at the moment, we want to do this room on a bit of a budget, so watch this space!
2. Decorate our hall
Our hall and stairs doesn’t give the impression we’d like it to when you walk through the door, and the wall full of lumps and bumps certainly needs some TLC!
This is probably the worst looking part of our home (other than our horrible kitchen cupboards!) As it’s the first thing you see when you walk through the front door – it needs sorting!
3. Bathroom tiles and floor
Our bathroom would be very plain and unoffensive if the previous owners had picked different ‘feature’ tiles. Unfortunately for us, they didn’t, so we’ve inherited some gorgeous fish tiles which upset me very much!
I’m not wanting to totally rip everything out, but I would love to replace those feature tiles with something a little more neutral.
The flooring has also seen better days, and hopefully this won’t be too expensive to replace as it’s a very small room.
3. Think about the sitting room.
Our sitting room isn’t quite big enough to squeeze a dining table in to make it a sitting room/ diner, so I really want to arrange the room in a way that makes it feel as spacious as possible.
This is going to need some serious Pinterest inspiration!.
In our hallway I started making a mirror wall, with beautiful ornate vintage mirrors. These can be pretty expensive, so I’ll be on the hunt at charity shops and car boots to see if I can build my collection!
5. Replace the floor in the Kitchen
Hopefully this can be done at the same time as the bathroom. Again it’s a small space, and previous owners had left it a little tatty.
6. New bedding
For our bedroom we only have one bedding set that we actually like. We recently upgraded to a king size duvet (my husband is a serial duvet thief!) and we had to panic buy 2 sets, just to get by for the time being!
One set of bedding just doesn’t go with the rest of the room which is a shame, so if you can think of anywhere that does nice bedding – please let me know! We have one budget set so maybe I’ll let myself splash out here!
I think that’s more than enough to keep me occupied throughout 2016, do you have any home goals for this year?! I’m always on the lookout for new interiors blogs aswell, leave me links if you know of any!
For Christmas I received these absolutely adorable bath bombs! Unfortunately, I don’t know where they were from as they came in a separate gift box, but they were just too cute not to share with you!
My favourite has got to be the little cat, how sweet?!
I found that these bath bombs didn’t dissolve very quickly, and left my skin feeling a little greasy rather than moisturised, not ideal! I can’t compare them to any of the LUSH products I’ve tried, but they certainly brightened up my bathroom and were a lovely gift!
Have you tried any new bath products recently? What are your favourites?!
Oops – I nearly missed it!
I found out this morning on Twitter (you can follow me here!) that it is Pancake Day today, so I’m verry sorry that I don’t have any pretty pancake pictures to include here feel free to take an Instagram break for some food porn! Before you go I have one question, how do you have yours?!
In my humble opinion, no-one can beat my Mum’s pancakes – plus she always has about a million different toppings! I thought I’d share my top 3 with you 🙂
First up has got to be the classic lemon and sugar, you seriously can’t go wrong!
A very close second is Nutella, no other chocolate spread will do! As a serious chocoholic this is a must.
Lastly, I’m going to pick Maple Syrup! My brother lives in Canada so we tend to have a regular supply of the stuff, amazing!
So tell me, what’s your favourite topping? Are you giving anything up for Lent?
As my 1 year wedding anniversary is fast approaching, I’m having serious wedding withdrawal and so to help stop this I thought I’d dabble into the world of wedding blogging!
I will still be posting my usual beauty and lifestyle related posts, but I thought it would be a great way to share my experiences as a bride to be, and who knows – it might even be helpful to some of you out there?!
What to expect from upcoming wedding posts? Honestly, I’m not sure yet! However, I’ll certainly be letting you know what I found helpful, where I found inspiration, and what helped me plan my big day!
Here’s to a new chapter…
I feel like this post is still borderline acceptable as we’re (just about) still in January!
Having held off setting any resolutions this year, I’ve decided to set some clear and attainable goals, rather than the usual ‘eat healthier’, ‘exercise more’ type.
First up this year I want to practice and improve my photography skills. I’ve recently invested in a beautiful new lens, and I want to go out and learn how to use it!
I’d also like to join an am-dram club. Musical theatre and dance is my biggest passion and I miss it very much since deciding to give it up as a career. I think getting involved either on stage or even backstage would do me the world of good!
This year I want to do more for others. From donating my hair to giving blood, I’d like to know that I’ve done something that’s helped another human.
My second passion is travel, and I certainly don’t make the most of living in England. There are so many wonderful cities within a fews reach (by car or plane!) which I’ve never taken advantage of, so throughout 2016 I’d like to visit as many cities as possible.
There are so many home improvements that I want to get done this year, I might even give them their very own post!
Finally, I’ve decided to stop wasting my weekends! It is so easy to have a cheeky lay in on a Saturday, and then once the household chores have been done and the weekly food shop, it doesn’t leave much time for anything else! I hate getting to Sunday night feeling like I haven’t made the most of my time off work, and as I spend most of my life cooped up in an air conditioned office, I’m going to try and get out of the house more and make the most of the great outdoors!
What are your goals for 2016?
Last week I finally went to see Les Mis at the Queen’s Theatre in London’s West End. *Spoiler – It was amazing.
As someone who has danced and been musical theatre obsessed all my life, it was practically a crime that I hadn’t seen this wonderful show until now! I knew all the songs and had seen the film (a fair few times…) but was desperate to see the show.
When I heard that Carrie Hope Fletcher was coming to the end of her run playing Eponine, I knew that I had to get my bum down to London to finally see it before she left! I treated my Mum to some tickets and off we went…
The theatre is absolutely gorgeous, and the stage actually moves which really helps tell the story and set the scene. It was very cleverly done, and so much work must go in backstage to make sure everything runs smoothly.
As for the cast, let’s just say they blew me away! As you can tell by the name, it’s a very emotional show, and I was in bits by about the third song! I’m not a cryer – so that’s saying something! Every performer was cast perfectly, and put their heart and soul into the show.
I was lucky enough to see Carrie play Eponine. Her voice is beyond amazing and both my Mum and I got goosebumps during ‘On My Own’. She is a very talented lady and I can’t wait to find out what she will be up to after Les Mis!
Do you love theatre? What’s your favourite show?!
If you saw my last post you’ll know that last week I went to the Odeon Screen Unseen.
With Screen Unseen you get to see a critically acclaimed film before it’s realised for the bargain price of £5, there’s just one catch – they don’t tell you what the film is until you’re there!
Even though I’m not a movie buff I love the concept, and the fact that it’s considerably cheaper than going to the cinema normally makes it perfect for a thrifty date night.
To make it even more fun, the @ODEONcinemas tweets clues on what the film will be to get people excited and talking about it. I’m rubbish at working out clues, but my friends at work were chatting about it in the days running up to it! You can find the tweets by searching the hashtag #OdeonScreenUnseen.
The Screen Unseen before I went showed ‘The Revenant’, which I’m gutted I missed out on! Last week it was ‘The Big Short’, which wasn’t really my thing but I still enjoyed the experience and will definitely go again!
You can find out more about it here.
Have you been to a Screen Unseen showing? What did you think?!
